MEET THE SOLENT FUELS TEAM
David Grannum
Owner and Managing Director
David Grannum, has over 30 years’ experience in supplying fuels across the Island. You may well already know David from running Vectis Oils with his Father some years ago, or more recently as the General Manager at Isle of Wight Fuels.
With a centrally located fuel depot on the Island he is pleased to be able to respond to any customer demands and is delighted to once again have a local family run fuels supply business. An entrepreneur at heart, he is always forward thinking and loves creating solutions to benefit all.
He is also very keen to help rural communities and businesses on the Isle of Wight in the future, transition from a dependence on fossil fuels to greener more sustainable alternatives
Debbie Jones
Finance Director
A really important part of the Solent Fuels team is our Finance Director – alongside every successful man there is a woman and her name is Debbie Jones, David’s fiancée!
With many years’ experience in accounts management for a solicitors firm and architectural business, Debbie looks after all our financial matters and makes sure we all get paid!
She also supports David with the general management of Solent Fuels Ltd, but somehow manages to balance her work life, with the most important things of all to her, her family.
Debbie has become a proud grandparent in recent years and is really excited her son Stuart is getting married later this year, in September 2022.
Lauren Jones
Sales Account Manager, Commercial Sales and Admin
It really is a ‘family business’ and next to introduce is our Sales Account Manager, Lauren Jones, who has worked in sales and customer service for many years, with teams of engineers across the East and South of the UK. Lauren really enjoys working alongside our Finance Director and Office Manager Debbie Jones – her Mum!
They both have a love of horses and Lauren has been horse riding for over 20 years. Lockdown delivered another member of the family for Lauren and so she is also now a very proud Mum.
Emma Christmas
Customer Services Advisor and Credit Control
Continuing the ‘family’ theme, our Customer Service Advisor Emma (David’s niece) joins Solent Fuels with many years sales and customer service experience both within the energy industry, for a fuel distribution company both on and off the Island and in retail for a high-profile clothing company.
She is a proud Mum to her 1-year-old daughter and loves travelling and making memories with her family.
Marc Phillips
Business Development Consultant
With nearly 30 years experience helping local businesses to advertise, market and sell themselves, he is really pleased to be working alongside David once again.
Previous projects with David have included the design and build of texaco-online.co.uk, the re-design of the ‘Regent’ fuels brand for Texaco, with associated forecourt signage and marketing materials and more recently ‘Business Development’ at Isle of Wight Fuels.
His hobby is ‘treading the boards’ and always loves playing a baddie (It’s only acting!).
Rory McGuffin
Operations Supervisor
We are really pleased that another member of the team that worked for David at Isle of Wight Fuels has joined us at Solent Fuels Ltd. Rory, our Operations Supervisor, is based at our depot in Newport and oversees our stock deliveries from the mainland, takes care of all depot upgrades and maintenance and helps support our tanker drivers alongside our transport consultant.
He has many years experience in the merchant navy, working on tankers and harbour tugs as a compliance/planned maintenance manager.
As you would expect he loves the sea and sailing is his passion, together with a wide variety of other sports.
Martyn Shaw
Lead Tanker Driver
With over 20 years’ industry experience working for Wessex Petroleum, BP and more recently with David at Isle of Wight Fuels, Martyn is an integral part of the Solent Fuels business, as our customer facing lead tanker driver.
He is also responsible for training new drivers and assists Rory our Operations Supervisor at the depot in Newport. He enjoys ‘saving the world’ on Playstation and really enjoys Karate with his son.
Brendan Rudge
Tanker Driver
Our newest member of the team is Brendan, who Solent Fuels welcomed on board in early 2022. He joins our team with many years driving experience in logistics for his family business on the mainland from a young age.
He has travelled extensively with his work (inc. Australia and the Middle East) and moved to Sandown from Lancashire in 2021.
He is really excited and looking forward to being a Grandfather again soon… for the 6th time!
